Caroline Brown-Fiol DVM

Dr Caroline Brown

Dr. Caroline Brown-Fiol grew up on the outskirts of Chicago in Naperville, Illinois. Her love for horses began early in life when she took her first riding lesson on a mare named Cece. and her passion for horses began at a young age when she took her first riding lesson on a mare named Cece. Her passion for veterinary medicine took root soon after, and she’s pursued that dream ever since.

Dr. Brown then began showing in the local hunter circuit, and she continued competing during her time at the University of Wisconsin- Madison for her IHSA team. During her time in Madison, she gained valuable hands-on experience working in the university’s large animal ICU, deepening her interest in equine medicine. While in Madison, she was able to work in the veterinary school’s large animal ICU, where her passion for veterinary medicine grew.
She attended vet school at the University of Florida (Go Gators!) and fell in love with the southeast, especially the mild winters– if you have ever spent a winter up north, you know! After veterinary school, Dr. Brown made her way to Aiken, South Carolina for an internship with Southern Equine Service. It was there that she found her passion for emergency medicine and reproduction.

Dr. Brown joined the Countryside team in 2022. She thrives in the collaborative, diagnostically-focused practice and has taken a special interest in advancing the hospital’s reproductive services. Dr. Brown found her niche in the challenges of managing a mare’s cycle and helping the owner achieve their breeding program and performance horse goals. For her, the highlight of the job is seeing that first fetal heartbeat or meeting a newborn foal—moments that make all the hard work worthwhile.

Outside the clinic, Dr. Brown-Fiol enjoys traveling with her husband, practicing yoga, and spending time with their beloved pets: Shadow, a loyal Florida Black Dog; Nyx, a mischievous black cat; and Pax, a distinguished gray tuxedo cat.
