Dr. Lauren Underwood Phillips grew up in Louisiana, where her love for all animals, especially horses, was cultivated from an early age. She began taking riding lessons at 8 years old and her passion for equine care continued to grow from there.
While going to college, she worked at a busy referral hospital in her hometown. It was during her time at the hospital that her dream of becoming an equine veterinarian was solidified. Working alongside the hospital’s veterinarians sparked her passion for equine reproduction and sports medicine.
After earning her veterinary degree from the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine class of 2018, Dr. Underwood completed a demanding internship at Texas Equine Hospital in Bryan, Texas. She stayed on as an associate veterinarian for the following 7 years. Working at Texas Equine Hospital, she further developed her knowledge and skillset in emergency medicine, internal medicine, sports medicine, and reproductive medicine.
Dr. Underwood is excited to join the Countryside team and looks forward to serving the community to the best of her ability.
Outside of veterinary medicine, Dr. Underwood enjoys riding, competing in the jumper circuits, and spending time with her husband and family.
